As soon as there’s a chill in the air, I’m ready to cozy up and get my favorite hot cocoa recipe out to enjoy while curled up with a fave blanket and a good movie or show. You could say I chill out and get my cocoa on. Ha!

How to Make the Perfect Foam for Your Hot Cocoa

Are you ready for the secret to making the best and most perfect foam for hot cocoa? It’s a milk frother! Who would have thought?

Now, admittedly, the milk frother I chose to purchase is quite pricey. But! The investment is totally worth it. Let me explain…

I drink a lot of coffee. Buying coffee from a shop is one my absolute most fave things to do. Now that I work from home (pre-global-pandemic, by the way) I don’t get out often enough to enjoy the shops. womp-womp

Also, coffee shop coffees can be quite expensive. So having a frother at home makes perfect sense (and perfect foam, which is why I’m making this post).

Imagine my SHEER DELIGHT when I realized this milk frother also makes hot cocoa and it’s THE BEST MOST PERFECT FOAMY HOT COCOA!

The Cocoa Low Down

I love my own Pumpkin Spice Cocoa Mix, but for those who like something different, you can use any packaged hot cocoa mix. too.

Oh, wait. That’s pumpkin spice, too. I’m a little obsessed. shrug

For the best mug of hot cocoa, you will need:

  • 1 cup milk (or dairy alternative)
  • 1 package hot cocoa mix or 4 TBSP hot cocoa mix
  • Milk Frother

This is the magical attachment for getting the best foam for hot cocoa.

  • Place the milker frother carafe on the base and place the whisk and hot chocolate attachment inside the carafe.
  • Add cocoa ingredients.
  • Press the power button and press three times to get to the hot chocolate function.
  • Place lid on carafe.
  • Watch the magic happen.
  • Pour cocoa into a mug and enjoy!

How to Make Perfect Foamy Cocoa

Materials

  • One hot cocoa packet, or
  • 4 tbsp hot cocoa mix
  • 1 cup milk, (or dairy alternative)
  • Mini marshmallows, optional
  • Cinnamon chocolate chips, optional

Instructions

  1. Place milk frother carafe on base and and place whisk and hot chocolate attachment in the carafe.
  2. Add milk to frother.
  3. Sprinkle hot cocoa mix over the milk (or dairy alternative).
  4. Press on button to the "hot chocolate" function.
  5. Place lid on carafe.
  6. Watch as the magic happens!
  7. Pour hot chocolate into a mug.
  8. Optional: top with marshamallows and cinnamon chocolate chips or your favorite hot cocoa topping.
  9. Enjoy!
