It seems that pumpkin season is unofficially ushered in every year by the release of Starbuck’s Pumpkin Spice Latte in late August. For me the official start of pumpkin season always happens on September 1st and it’s always, always still so hot here in Arkansas in September.
As much as I love my pumpkin spice lattes, it’s hard to enjoy a steaming cup of coffee in September when it’s still 95 degrees in Arkansas.
A Pumpkin Spice Frosty is my answer to fulfill that pumpkin spice desire during the still-hot dog days of summer while us pumpkin lovers look forward to fall and all things pumpkin.
Make his Wendy’s inspired Pumpkin Pie Frosty all year long with the flavor of pumpkin pie spice. I always make sure I have my own homemade pumpkin pie spice blend on hand.
Ingredients to Make a Pumpkin Pie Frosty
I made this frosty extra pumpkin-spice-y with the addition of Pumpkin Spice Milk, a seasonal product from Hiland Dairy. You can substitute heavy cream and it will be just as delicious.
For this pumpkin spice frosty treat you will need:
- Pumpkin Spice Milk or heavy cream
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Whipped topping
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Pumpkin puree
I used my electric ice cream maker for this. If you don’t have one, you can easily make this by pouring the frosty mix into a covered bowl and placing it into the freezer. Remove and stir every 15 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency. I used this method for half of my mix and it made an excellent pumpkin spice ice cream.
Tools to Make a Pumpkin Pie Frosty
I mentioned my ice cream maker above. I love how well it thickened the frosty and it only took about 25 minutes to reach a great consistency.
If you don’t have an ice cream maker, place your frosty ingredients in these glass containers with lids and place them in the freezer.
A good set of rubber spatulas is perfect for mixing the frosty ingredients thoroughly and getting every last drop of pumpkin spice goodness!
These old fashioned soda glasses would be fun to use.
